Doug started with Vreugdenhil Construction when he was 5, but he was technically part-time when he was in high school. He always loved being on the job site watching his father, and he remembers handing his dad shingles on the roof when he was the young age of 5.
Today, Doug manages the job sites so that the crew knows where to go and what to do each day. He also still enjoys working right beside them, as it is still his passion. He also does the custom design house plans and enjoys meeting with the clients to find out what they would like for their home and the special touches they look forward to having.
Doug and his wife Valerie have four children, three grandsons and two granddaughters. They enjoy spending time with their kids and grandkids, KC Chiefs, MN Twins, boating, skiing and traveling.
Mike has been working for Vreugdenhil Construction in some capacity all of his life, but began full-time for his dad in 1987. As with most small companies, he wears many different hats. Primarily, he is the master electrician and concrete finisher. He enjoys meeting with clients to help them create an environment in their home that provides comfort and light.
Mike and his wife Karen have four children – all of which have been a part of the business in some form or another.
He enjoys spending time with his family on the lake, riding motorcycle and watching his son play hockey!
Jesse has been working for Vreugdenhil Construction for 22 years. Two things got him interested in becoming a part of the team... the first was his Grandpa Vis, as he was always working with wood. When Jesse would visit he would let him help on some projects he was working on, like playing on his lathe (woodworking tool) and cutting things on his saw. The second thing that drew him in was when Vreugdenhil Construction built his parents house in ’95. His grandpa and dad did some small jobs around the house and Jesse would try to help! The next summer Jesse began working for Vreugdenhil Construction during the summers until he finished school.
Jesse and his wife Melissa have three children, Hannah, Haley and Chase. They keep them busy between music recitals, school programs and sports.
He enjoys boating in the summer, having bonfires and going on vacations. Jesse and Melissa enjoy serving on different types of mission trips where they can use their skills.
Tim graduated from the carpentry program at Northwest Iowa Community College and began working for Vreugdenhil Construction in May of 2006. He has always enjoyed working with his hands and being outside and now enjoys the day-to-day process of home building. His favorite part is trimming, installing tile and wood floor, building decks and some framing.
Tim and his wife Marlys have three boys: Eli, Dylan and Brennan and a dog, Murphy.
He enjoys cheering on the Minnesota Twins, riding bike, hiking, summer vacations with family and attending his boys' activities.
Grant has been working at Vreugdenhil Construction for nearly 10 years. Grant’s grandpa worked construction and he enjoyed spending time with him in his shop. Today Grant’s duties range from forming cement, to framing the shell of the house and occasionally helping with interior finishes.
Grant and his high school sweet heart Ronni have two boys, Julian and Zion, and a daughter, Vaylin. Grant enjoys using his smoker to make food for his family and friends. He also enjoys hog farming part-time with his brothers and dad.
Dan began working at Vreugdenhil Construction full-time about a year and half ago, but he has spent a lot of his childhood growing up around the business doing what he could. He is currently a licensed electrical apprentice and is taking online courses to become a journeyman.
Dan is one of Mike and Karen Vreugdenhil’s son. He is married and is looking forward to having a small family of his own. Dan has been a part of the Infantry in the Iowa National Guard for the past four years, where he specialized in the role of a Sniper.
He enjoys spending free time with family at the lake, doing absolutely anything in the mountains, such as snowmobiling, four wheeling and hiking. He also enjoys putting skates on and playing pick-up hockey!
Ben began working for Vreugdenhil Construction part-time his sophomore year of high school and began full-time two years ago. His job consists of forming the cement, framing the shell of the house and in the winter he helps with the sheet rock.
In his free time he enjoys spending time at the lakes with his family, playing a round of golf, playing pickup basketball, hunting and fishing.
